ResearchLink proposes a validated training for investigators and their site staff in both French and Dutch. This training is based on the Guidelines of the European Science Foundation published in July 2003 and constantly improved following our experience and upgraded to meet the new legislation and recommendations. Theoretical lessons are illustrated by exercises and are concentrated on teamwork. They are given by research industry members, experienced investigators, university professors and trainers specialised in human relationships. This training has been validated by several universities, research and pharmaceutical companies, by Aresa, the Clinical Research Cluster of Wallonia and by BioWin, the Health Cluster of Wallonia. Each of the ResearchLink investigators' has to follow this training before joining the network. It provides all the information required for participation in clinical research as an "informed" investigator. The program allows the trainee to develop a strong foundation in all the aspects of clinical investigation : methodology, regulatory, legal, ethical, practical, ... Trainees, clinicians, coordinators or study nurses will be competent and possess the valuable skills needed in order to conduct a well organised and controlled clinical research study within their institution and / or private practice. Most of the Belgian investigators, GP's but also hospital practitioners, practice their professional activity without adequate training. That's the reason why we decided to also propose this training to pharmaceutical companies, CRO's, hospitals and investigational sites. This basic training is split in 5 units, given either during a whole week-end or during 2 Saturdays. It covers :
- The methodology of clinical trials. - The practical methods. - The critical reading of scientific literature and study protocols. - The relationship doctor-patient in the frame of clinical research.
